An expensive product that will last for 20 years may be a better choice than a cheaper one

The products you select to outfit your new bathroom will affect both your design and your budget. If you choose top-of-the-line products, expect a top-of-the-line bill. Factors that influence the cost of new fixture, cabinetry, countertops, and flooring include updated technology and type of finish.
How can you tell whether a product is reliable and will endure the daily abuse of water and moisture? Are there basic differences that make one faucet or a particular toilet better than another? To find out, you can do a little research. Shop around, visit bath designer showrooms, read books, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
A high price does not always mean high quality. Find out what is different about a toilet that cost $100, for example, and one that sells for $300 or even $1,000. Analyze the benefits and the risks that come with each product. Once you have that information, a decision will be easier.
Ask the manufacturer about the expected life of the product or its efficiency. Talk to your contractor, who may be familiar with the product or can pass along critical feedback from other clients who may have purchased the same item or something similar to it.
