How to remove wallpaper

Steam strippers work most efficiently when top layer of paper have been removed, exporting the more absorbent backing. To soften the old wallpaper paste, soak the paper with with warm water and a little dishwashing liquid or use a commercial stripping liquid.
- Apply the solution with a sponge or houseplant sprayer.
- Repeat and leave the water to penetrate for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Use a wide metal bladed scraper to lift the softened paper, starting at the seam.
- Take care not to dig the point of the blade into the plaster.
- Resoak stubborn areas of paper and leave them for a few minutes before stripping.
