Contemporary wall mirrors are more than simply decoration; they can be used deceptively to play with light and space. The combination of mirrors and glass can be exciting and works especially well in alcoves where, if ornaments are placed on glass shelves with a mirror behind them, they seem to float.

So make the most of this fact when creating a display. Always make sure that a mirror reflects something of interest, a picture, plant or view of a garden.

Decorative wall mirrors can create an illusion of greater space; such as an entire wall of mirror may double the width or length of a room, while a mirrored recess on either side of a fireplace gives the appearance of a long room with a central fireplace.

Different standpoints reflect different parts of the room and a view of the garden through the window. By adding interest to a plain wall and bringing light to the dark end of the room it could almost be a window.
